Mary Lois Mountain

Mary Lois Mountain (Cadonau), 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her home on August 5, 2023. Mary was born November 18, 1943 in Portland Oregon but spent her childhood years growing up in Lincoln City, Oregon. The second of 3 Children born to William and Geraldine Cadonau, Mary was a woman who loved sports, animals and spending time at the lake with her childhood friends. She was a devoted mother to her two girls (Jennifer and Janay) who she adored and cherished. Putting them first and raising them into strong women like herself. A great example, a hard worker and someone who always put her family first. Mary worked for Blue cross and Blue Shield of Oregon for 30 years in many roles and was a fantastic manager.Mary was a lover of sports, a great athlete herself, she played basketball, volleyball and was a cheerleader. Later in life she enjoyed golfing on a regular basis and spent most of her life enjoying outdoor activities and watching her daughters excel at their craft. There wasn't a sport that she didn't have knowledge about and was a lover of the NCAA basketball tournament. Mary was someone with great integrity and passion for life, she would preserver through hard times and lead by example. She lived in the small town of Fossil Oregon after retirement before returning to the Vancouver area where she lived out her life. She loved living on her property in Fossil and loved living on the golf course in Washougal. She was a great gardener and loved flowers (Dahlias). Mary was a great cook and is known for her salsa making and was named Queen of the kitchen. A great baker and one who made a mess in the kitchen she enjoyed and shared her love through cooking. Mary was devoted to her faith and was a believer. One of her favorite trips was a mission trip to Kenya where she was able to help build a school and make a difference in the lives of children. Mary loved to travel, loved to camp, but most of all loved to spend time with her two girls. She is survived by her children, Jennifer Mountain (Camas Washington) Janay Cookson (Newberg Oregon), her sister Janet Cadonau (Coos Bay Oregon),brother in law Dave her daughter in law, Paula Nirschl and Son in law Andrew Cookson.
