Karl Russell Eyre

Karl Russel Eyre 1936-2010 Our beloved husband, father, brother, and friend passed away June 22, 2010 surrounded by his loved ones, following a valiant battle with cancer. Karl was born June 21, 1936 in Milford, Utah. During his youth he raised beef and plowed fields for spending money, survived throat cancer, and enjoyed 4-H and riding broncos and bulls in the rodeo. At age 22 he was drafted into the army. Karl served overseas in the corps of engineers defending the Alps. He was discharged in 1965. Karl married Carol Anderson August 3, 1962 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were sealed January 30, 1971 in the Idaho Falls LDS temple for time and all eternity. They were blessed with four boys and had a home filled with love. Karl attended every sporting event, recital, and performance for his children that he could. Karl was employed with Eastern Electric (Westinghouse) from the age of 19 as a master winder repairing everything from locomotives to hydroelectric generators. He stayed with them until his retirement at the age of 65. His employment took the family to Salt Lake City, Utah; Pocatello, Idaho; Littleton, Colorado; Casper, Wyoming and finally Vancouver, Washington. Following retirement, Karl took up golfing. He loved working on his game and going out with his golfing buddies Michael, Marv, Wayne and Gary. One of the highlights of his life was serving a mission for the LDS church with his sweetheart, Carol. He labored in the Kennewick Washington mission. He and Carol loved their association with the senior elders and the missionaries. As a devoted husband, loving father and friend and hard worker, he had a clear sense of right and wrong but accepted others for their differences and showed love to everyone. You could always find him with a big smile and a positive attitude. He never complained and was a great example of showing gratitude. Despite his pain, Karl kept his sense of humor to the end. He is survived by his eternal sweetheart Carol; brother Jim (Irene), sons Ron (Julianne), Ken (Tom), Ryan (Michelle), and Brandon (CarrieAnn); and 11 grandchildren Jordan, Cameron, Jason, Ashley, Corey, Megan, Milla, Sean, Catherine, and Thomas. A memorial will be held Monday, June 28th, 1pm at the LDS church, 13600 SE McGillivray Blvd, Vancouver, WA.
