Doris S. Speyer

Doris Irene Scott Speyer February 25, 1934 - April 1, 2022 Doris Speyer passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family. Doris was born February 25, 1934, in Portland, Oregon to parents Blake and Velma Scott. In 1942, the family relocated to Vancouver, WA where her father began working in the Kaiser Shipyards. Doris graduated from Fort Vancouver High School in 1952. She then went to work for Montgomery Ward. Upon turning 21 in 1955 she went into the Heights Tavern where she saw Henry (Hank) Speyer, who was a friend/classmate of her sister Patricia. They were married August 26th of the same year. Doris was a loving wife and devoted mother. She was a home maker while her four children attended school and she was always there to support them in their activities, which were largely sports related. After her children were older and Hank had retired, she went to work at Taco Bell, retiring after 18 years. Doris enjoyed traveling to visit her brother in Pendleton, Oregon for the Round Up, spring planting, and family trips to Lincoln City or Disneyland (although she was afraid of flying). She enjoyed working in her flower garden, putting together puzzles with her grandkids, but mostly loved watching the baseball, softball, and basketball games that her family participated in. Doris was adored by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her door was always open for a visit which often meant her PB & J sandwich and a lot of laughs. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church since 1954. Doris is survived by her daughter Cathy Hill (Dan), son Greg Speyer (Shelly), daughter Karen Speyer Tucker (Christopher), son Chris Speyer (Amy); grandchildren, Michael Speyer (Pamela), Steven Speyer (Hannah), Garett Speyer (Alexandra), Jason Hill, Stephanie Hill, Ashley Hill, Nathan White, Alison Speyer, Emily Cole (Andrew), Joseph Loftgren, Matthew Loftgren, Angelique Ortega (Kevin), and John Tucker; Great Grandchildren, Mia, Logan, Malia, Addison, Parker, Sean, Amelia and Jack. Doris was preceded in death by her husband Henry, granddaughter Alicia Hill, Parents Blake and Velma Scott. Sister Patricia Doerrie, and brothers Jim and Joe Scott. Her funeral is Monday, April 11 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vancouver. Followed by a reception at Evergreen Memorial Gardens 1101 NE 112th Ave in Vancouver. Burial will follow in the Garden of Faith at 3:30.p.m.
