Violet Julia Louise Tiniakos

VIOLET "VIE" J. TINIAKOS February 17, 1938 ~ March 27, 2014 " She was a tender, caring, passionate, and memorable spirit to all who were blessed to know her." Violet "Vie" J. Tiniakos, age 76, passed away March 27, 2014 at home in Vancouver, WA, surrounded by loved ones and her family by her side. She was born Feb. 17, 1938 to Rinehart and Marie Wolff in Portland, OR where she grew up and graduated from Franklin High School. Vie was a stay-at-home mom until her two rambunctious boys could be trusted. Later, she was President of Beta Sigma Phi, and honored as an Outstanding Woman of America in 1970. She then worked for C&L Interiors before starting her own business - Tiniakos Design & Interiors. Vie's talents were extraordinary. She was exceptionally artistic. Everything she touched became beautiful. Vie was a master at decorating and had an artist's eye for color, fabric and furniture coordination. She beautified hundreds of homes and prominent businesses in our area, and her vision and work brought joy to all who hired her for decorating services. Vie was a proud recipient of the Best Interior Design Award in 1984 from Clark County Home Builder's Association for their Parade of Homes, and received many ribbons and professional accolades throughout her career. Vie was passionate about fishing and golf. She and Nick have been members of the Royal Oaks Country Club for 34 years, where she was Ladies Board President in 1998, and was also President of Oregon Women's Golf Association. Vie was an avid fisherwoman. Some would even call her the Fish Whisperer. In fact, her son says that when it came to fishing, Vie's fish stories were the only stories he ever heard where the "big one" never got away. Vie also had a green thumb, loved gardening and flowers, travel, scrapbooking, and spending time with her family. She valued beauty and meaningful mementos, and took great care in keeping and displaying the smallest tokens and gifts given to her from loved ones in her beautiful Ellsworth home. Vie was especially known for her high energy, and her feet were going 50 miles an hour by the time they hit the floor each morning. She was sweet and kind, and genuinely believed that every child she met was the most beautiful child on earth. Vie was an amazing mother to her two boys, and a loving wife to Nick. "Vie" is survived by Nick Tiniakos, her husband of 50 years; two sons, Scott (Julie) and Lon (Debbie); and four grandchildren, Ryan, Katelin, Justin and Dustin. A celebration of Vie's life will be held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, 1101 NE 112th Ave., Vancouver, WA 98684 on Fri., April 11, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. Special thanks and donations may be sent to Hospice.
