Takuro "Tak" Yamate

In loving memory of Takuro "Tak" Yamate It is with great sadness that the family of Takuro (Tak) Yamate announce his passing on February 24, 2021 at 86 years young. Tak was born into a loving family who highly valued and supported higher education and learning. He earned his first bachelor's degree (BA) in American Literature from Mie University in Tsu, Japan. For a brief period, he taught 3rd grade before his interests and encouragement from his parents led him to Seattle, WA. Three short years later, he earned his second bachelor's degree (BA), this time in Business Administration with a concentration in Foreign Trade from the business school at the University of Washington. He worked for several years in Seattle before relocating to Tokyo, Japan pursuing a successful career in export/import in the beverage industry, first as an executive in the corporate world responsible for growing the Asian market and later as a business owner. His work and interests afforded him the opportunity to travel & befriend those from all over the world. Tak was a devoted husband of over 40 years to Natsuko and an amazing father to 2 daughters Hitomi and Nozomi. Tak always put his family first before anything else, even relocating back to the Pacific Northwest from Japan so that his two daughters could be educated in the United States. He led by example; he valued the importance of hard work and honesty, all while having fun. While helping to raise the daughters, Tak enjoyed working from home, gardening, barbecuing and entertaining family and friends. Tak also enjoyed golfing with the family at the Fairwood Golf & CC where the family home was located and taught his daughters the first steps to driving with their Yamaha golf cart. Tak was also a wonderful self-taught harmonica player. Tak, an avid baseball player during his youth, was quite a serious Seattle Mariners fan. He would even tune into the radio to cheer the team on when he could not be home to watch the game on the television. After the daughters were grown, Tak relocated back to Yokkaichi, Japan along with his wife for a few years before moving back to the US, this time to Vancouver, WA in 2013. During this period, he reignited his passion for traveling and discovered his love for Disney Parks & Cruises. Tak will be fondly remembered for his magnetic personality, charismatic smile, and for his considerate and kind nature. He was also a very positive, inspirational, and transformational person and a leader. Although he is no longer walking this earth, he will forever live in the hearts of those he touched as a devoted and loving son, husband, father, grandfather, teacher, mentor, and friend. A celebration of life will be held privately.
