Ross Eugene Shuman

Ross E Shuman of Vancouver, WA, passed away on May 1, 2010. He was 90 years old. He was born in Antler, ND and found the lord when he was 15 years old. He found our mother and the sweetheart of his life, Dolores E Greenwold, 1 year later. She preceded him in death on May 18, 2002. They were married 60 years. After 18 days of marriage, Ross went to serve his country in WWII. He had many stories of singing, praising the lord, and preaching the gospel. He prayed for his safety and the safety of his fellow troops and" listened to that small voice" that told him to re-dig his foxhole and move, which saved his life. He was able to come home to his beautiful wife and they started a family of 4 children. He is survived by Jim Shuman, John Shuman, Judy Garrett, and Karen Ellis. He has 4 grandchildren, David and Erika Malagon, and David and Deborah Bowers, 4 great-grandchildren; Adrianna, Miranda, Ashley and Natalie. Our dad and "papa" had many hobbies and interests. He loved music and was self-taught on the guitar, ukulele, and the piano. He loved to sing and play gospel songs and if you came to visit him, you were sure to get entertained and probably hear a sermon. He was the music director at our church and became an ordained minister to serve as an assistant pastor. Along with music, he loved to make pictures. Whether still picture or moving, it didn't matter as long as he was behind a camera when something was going on. His other hobbies were hunting, fishing, and camping. But, most of all, he loved God and his family. He served God as he sang and played his guitar up until his last days. He was always there for his family and friends. He gave of himself whenever and whatever was needed. He always told us" I pray for you all the time", and he did. With the passing of our parents and "Nana and Papa" to their grandchildren, it leaves a big hole that will only be filled by our love for each other, memories of them, and the knowledge that they are in heavenly places together, at last. Our family wants to thank all our friends for their love and support, Home Health and Hospice, and Evergreen Memorial Gardens. A special thank you goes to Judy Garrett for moving in to take care of our father. Her love and care meant so much to him and to all of us.
