Roger D. Kincaid

Roger D. Kincaid was born July 18, 1933, to Henry Dewitt Kincaid and Delpha Alice Martin Kincaid in Jerome, Idaho. Roger passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus surrounded by his wife and family, at home in Vancouver, Washington on September 11, 2021. Roger attend school in his early years in Jerome and Ontario, Oregon. For a short while he attended the deaf school in Salem, Oregon. Roger graduated from High School in 1954 in Middleton, Idaho. While in high school he was a member of the FFA. Roger met the love of his life Carol L. Meglemre the Christmas of 1953 at a high school play practice. They dated during their junior and senior year and set a date to marry after they graduated in May 1954. Roger and Carol were married on July 18, 1954, in Boise, Idaho. They made their first home in Middleton where he was employed at Simplot. Roger was offered a job ditch riding in Middleton, Idaho when his father moved out of the area. This began his career as an Irrigation Specialist (ditch rider). When a position opened with the government office, they moved to Notice, Idaho where he worked as a maintenance worker. When a ditch rider position became available, they moved to Fruitland, Idaho for about a year. Roger was transferred to Prosser, Washington where they lived for about a year. Roger was transferred to Scooteney reservoir where he remained for 36 years until he retired in 1997. Roger was proud to have served in the military. He was drafted in March of 1956 in Boise, Idaho. Roger completed his military training at Fort Ord, California, Fort Lewis, Washington and finally Fort Gordon, Georgia. He served as military police and his last station was in Fort Macarthur, California where he was honorably discharged. During this time, he earned a good conduct medal. Roger was a man of faith and strong Christian values. He was actively involved in the church. For many years he served as a deacon, participated in Royal Rangers, and was an all-around handy man when needed. He faithfully prayed for his family daily. Roger enjoyed hunting, wood working and his family. Roger with his wife made many wooden toys, doll houses, and projects for family and friends. He was preceded in death by his son Rodney Dewitt, his parents Henry and Delpha, and brother Neil Kincaid. Roger is survived by his wife Carol, son Rick D. Kincaid (Ann Kincaid), Daughter Shonna Kincaid Wheatcroft (Doug Wheatcroft), daughter Dalonna Kincaid Sommer (Steve Sommer) Grandchildren: Stephen Wheatcroft, Sarah Kincaid McPherson, Jerimiah Barrier, Meagen Kincaid, Zacharia Barrier, Stephanie Wheatcroft and Greggory Wheatcroft, and 9 Great grandchildren. Sisters: Patricia LaRae Kincaid Lightfoot and Caroline Lois Kincaid Schuster.
