Rena Glade Peterson

Rena Glade (Hanks) Peterson, age 70, of Vancouver, WA, peacefully passed away July 4, 2021, from natural causes in her home. Rena (Hanks) Peterson was born in August 1950 in Bend, OR. She grew up with her family in Shaniko, OR, and enjoyed playing with her best friends Bonny and Mary Sue Morelli, pretending they were cheerleaders cheering on their classmates in sports. Later, her family moved to Portland, OR, where she attended Reynolds High School. She met her husband, Myron Peterson before graduation, and later they were married in 1970, resulting in a long and loving marriage that lasted over 50 years. Rena was a masterful cook and baker; often providing wonderful meals for large family gatherings; neighborhood parties or church events. In addition to playing beautiful piano music almost daily, she taught herself how to paint wonderful oil, acrylic and folk artwork, decorating the family's home with warmth and whimsy. She also loved painting very detailed ceramics and was excellent at crocheting. She crocheted hundreds of afghans and blankets for friends, family, and strangers. In the 1970's her and Myron moved the family to Vancouver, WA; with a brief 4-year family adventure to Anchorage, AK, in the mid-1980s. Returning to Vancouver, in 1987; her and Myron continued to build a life together with their children; and eventually their many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Throughout all the years of raising her family, she was committed to keeping in touch with family and friends far and wide with her annual Christmas letters; each year she took great pride and put many hours of effort into sharing the years' family achievements, trials and tribulations. She tirelessly made sure all her friends and family received personalized birthday cards each year, making each recipient feel special and thought of. She donated to many charities and had a very strong belief in God and was an active member of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit in Battleground, WA. Rena Peterson is survived by her husband, Myron Peterson of Vancouver; her children, twins, Stephen and Stephanie; twins, Troy and Trina; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, and grandmother. Funeral services will be held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, 1101 N.E. 112th Avenue, Vancouver, WA, July 14, at 3 p.m. with refreshments immediately following.
