Pearl Elizabeth Pack

Pearl Elizabeth (Parsons) Pack was born on October 2, 1927, in Nelson, British Columbia. She is preceded in death by her parents, Elijah and Elizabeth Parsons, brother Don, sisters Lillian and Ellen, and in 2008 by her husband, Donald Pack. She is survived by her seven children - Patty (Fred) Rasmussen, Dale (Jean) Pack, Donna (David) Gregg, Linda (Dale) Pittock, Steven (Nancy) Pack, Ron (Maritza) Pack, and Cathy (Joe) Potts, 19 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. She is also survived by her twin sister, Merle Elliott. Pearl was born into a family that was committed to ministering to the world through The Salvation Army. After marrying Don Pack on January 18, 1947, they continued that legacy of ministry together. Over the following 44 years, and through many locations in the western United States, they worked together to represent Jesus and change the lives of all those they encountered. However, the most important mission field for Pearl was the children that the Lord had blessed her with, and as the years went on, the extended families that grew from the original seven. Family was always her chief joy in life and her happiest times were when she was surrounded by any of the kids, grandkids, or greats. There are many names that Pearl went by over the course of her life - each with its own special meaning: Pearl, Mother, Mom, Baba, Grandma, Great-Grandma, and GiGi. Anyone and everyone that used any one of those names with Pearl would have their own heartfelt stories about how they were impacted, how they were loved, and how they were made to feel precious. Everyone was precious to Pearl. In early 2011, Pearl met and married Rea Benson. Once his health started to decline, they relocated from their home in Vancouver to Glenwood Place Assisted Living. She loved and cared for him until his death in 2016. Pearl remained at Glenwood Place for the remainder of her life, providing many smiles and joy to those that cared for her there. In October, Pearl celebrated her 90th birthday with her twin sister Merle, surrounded by countless family and friends who had gathered to celebrate the love they had been shown over the years. All those there were unaware that within a few short months the Lord would call Pearl home. On January 13th, 2018, surrounded by all seven children and many others from the family, Pearl left this world for her eternal home. When her eyes opened and she took her first free and unlabored breath, she heard these words, Well done, good and faithful servant. Pearls celebration of life will be at The Salvation Army Portland Tabernacle Corps, on Saturday, February 3rd, at 2:00 pm.
