Muriel Ellen Gregory

Muriel E. (Moulton) Gregory October 10, 1928-May 3, 2010 "Her children rise up and call her blessedlet her own works praise her in the gates" Proverbs 31. "Sis" was born in Emmett, Idaho to Jonathan and Opal (Howe) Moulton, joining big brother Ernest. The family moved to the Vancouver area in 1942 and by then little brother Lauren and Sister Maxine had joined them. Sis graduated from VHS in 1946 and worked for the telephone company for a time. She met Howard Gregory and they married in 1947. Sis then became a Homemaker, wherever the home happened to be, and a wonderful Mother to four children. In 1958 they settled in the home in Hazel Dell where she still lived at the time of her passing. Sis and Howard enjoyed many camping adventures, including the infamous bear-outside-the-car episode. Group family camp at Mt Rainier was an annual event and you could count on her to have any item you forgot to bring. In later years, she worked for the CDM CHORE services, giving TLC to homebound and disabled clients. She cared for Howard after his stroke for as long as possible, then spent most of every day with him after he was placed in a Nursing Facility until his death in 1998. Sis faced the diagnosis of cancer in 2000 with courage and optimism, as she had with every challenge. Faith in God and enduring the successful treatments kept it in remission for ten years, allowing her to see three great-granddaughters come into the world and welcome a Step-great-grandson into the family. Sis had a gentle loving spirit that will be missed in this world. Her gift of hospitality was much appreciated. Never could you just "drop by" without receiving something to eat or drink, and her lemon cake at the July Fourth picnic was always something to look forward to, as was her warm smile and laughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, Brother Ernest and beloved Howard. She is survived by: Brother Lauren (Cheryl) Moulton of Washougal and Sister Maxine (Bob) Crockford of Vancouver; sons John (Verna) and Randy Gregory; daughters Jana (Ralph) Kile and Lori (Ken) Hooper all of Vancouver; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and a host of friends. Memorial services will be held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens
