Maynard Elmer Clapp Jr.

Maynard was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend whose greatest joy was his family. He was born on February 28, 1941, in Vancouver, Washington, where he lived his entire life. He graduated from Hudson's Bay High School in 1959 and proudly served in the United States Army. He met the love of his life, Betty, at church, and they began dating in December 1960. One year later, in December 1961, they were married, beginning an eternal marriage that spanned more than 65 years. Together, they built a life centered on faith, love, family, and service. Maynard lived a life defined by integrity, kindness, humility, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. He never simply taught these values—he lived them every day, leading by example and leaving a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. He built a successful business, served as a Bishop in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and was a humble disciple of Jesus Christ. He was known for his strong work ethic, generosity, and willingness to help others. Whether it was fixing something, solving a problem, or offering wisdom and encouragement, he was the person family and friends turned to for advice. He loved the outdoors and found joy in gardening, fishing, golf, baseball, basketball, painting, architecture, and spending time with his family. He faithfully supported his children and grandchildren in their activities, always cheering them on and celebrating their accomplishments. More than anything, Maynard leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love, quiet strength, steadfast faith, and unwavering devotion to his family —a legacy that will continue to live on through the generations who were blessed to call him Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa, Brother and friend. Maynard is survived by his loving wife Betty Clapp, his children Eilene (Karson) Johnson, Karrie (Loren) Brown, Kristine (Ken) Howard, Jeff (Sarah) Clapp, Aric (Brittany) Clapp, Nathan (Brandon) Clapp, Brandi (Brett) Bangerter, 27 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, Brother Marvin Clapp, Brother Rick (Kay) Clapp and Sister Carol Clapp Savoie McCauley. Maynard was proceeded in death by his Father Maynard Elmer Clapp, Mother Betty L. Clapp and sister, Diane Clapp Wilson.
