MARJORIE THOMPSON January 4, 1927 ~ November 29, 2015 Our beloved mother passed away after a battle with COPD at the Ray Hickey Hospice House in Vancouver, WA, with her family and loved ones by her bedside. She was born Jan. 4, 1927 to Albert E. Nelson and Martha (Teigland) Nelson in Hatton, ND. Two years after graduating from Hatton High School, Marjorie married Marvin A. "Andy" Thompson on Feb. 2, 1947. Together they had nine children: five girls and four boys: Darlene (Bruce), Debbi (Lloyd), Barbara (Mike), Judy (Bob), Becky (Steve), Marty (Bonnie), Jim, John (Jolene), and Rob (Lisa). She was preceded in death by her husband, Andy; three daughters, Judy, Debbi, Barbara; son, Marty; and great-granddaughter, Ashley. She had many grandkids and great-grandkids (43), some of whom referred to her as either Grandma Cookie or Grandma Doughnut, depending on what their favorite baked goodies were from her. During her lifetime, Marjorie worked as a teacher. She also worked at the Vancouver cannery, in the restaurant industry, and was still working as a house cleaner into her 80's. Her most meaningful job in life was her family. She was very proud of all of her kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, and their spouses. Marjorie loved to make meals and goodies for all. She enjoyed working in her yard and garden and looked forward to spring planting every year. She also enjoyed going to sales with her daughters whenever time permitted, but mostly she enjoyed visiting with friends and family, especially when they stopped by to see her. For years, she looked forward to visits from Gene (brother-in-law) and Lucille (sister) to play cards and dice games. All who knew her will forever feel the loss of her presence and her love. Heaven became a happier place on Sun., Nov. 29th. The family would like to thank Emmanuel and Marianna Soare at Sunshine Senior Care for the care they provided in her final months. Viewing will be held on Mon. and Tues., Dec. 7th and 8th from 12:00 to 9:00p.m. and the memorial service will be on Wed., Dec. 9th at 12:30 p.m., at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, followed by refreshments at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 8310 MacArthur Blvd., Vancouver, WA.
