Louis Robert Maurina

LOUIS ROBERT MAURINA December 16, 1926 ~ September 11, 2015 Our dear father, Louis Maurina, passed on to his Lord on September 11. Louis was the son of Edward Frank Maurina and Marie Kemptner. He was born on December 16, 1926 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He grew up and attended school in Owen, Wisconsin before enlisting in the Air Force in 1946. He was stationed in Germany during the post-World War II occupation, where he advanced to Sergeant, and became a top-flight mechanic for the new P-52 fighter airplanes. He met his wife-to-be, Sergeant Virginia Wise, US Women's Air Corp, at Erding Air Base in Fliegerhorst, Germany, where they were married on April 10, 1948. They moved to California after the war, where Louis earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Agronomy at Fresno State University. During those years, their first three children were born - Ed, Gerry, and Judy. They moved to the Hawaiian Islands to follow Louis' work in 1955 and lived on the islands of Hawaii, Oahu, Lanai and Kauai. His two daughters, Sheri and Debbie, were born during Louis and Virginia's forty two years in Hawaii. Louis was a 32nd Degree Mason, Worshipful Master at the Ko'olau Lodge No. 801, active member of the Scottish Rite and a Shriner with the Aloha Temple, Honolulu, Hawaii. He held the position of Vice President of Marketing and Sales for C. Brewer Company in Hawaii. He helped develop several of the new fertilizer and equipment technologies in the 1950's and 60's and introduced them to the sugar and pineapple industries. He was a scoutmaster, baseball coach, and involved in other activities with his children as they grew up in Hawaii. Louis is survived by his five adult children: Edward F. Maurina, Gerald L. Maurina, Judith Keister, Sheri Maurina, and Debbie-Lou Maurina-Bell. He is one of seven siblings, a sister, Mary, and five brothers: John, Frank, Raymond, Bill, and Jim. Louis is survived by his sister, Mary Schumaker of Phoenix, Arizona, his brothers, Bill and Jim, of Lake Holcombe, Wisconsin. He was blessed with ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. We each know you loved us fiercely, and we love you in the same way. We hold in our memories all you did with us and for us. We will miss you beyond words.
