LOIS MULLINSJune 20, 1929 ˜ April 26, 2023 Beautiful Lois Lorraine Mullins loved to travel. Born to Elma Iverson Glover and Hallie Iverson, her journey began on June 20, 1929, in Longview, WA, and her final flight departed Vancouver on April 26, 2023. Surviving her are daughter, Lonni Martin; beloved nephews and nieces, cousins, and valued friends and neighbors. Her husband, Capt. Cecil Mullins, predeceased her, as did brothers Orville Iverson and Don Iverson. The dignity of her native heritage guided Lois through lifelong medical challenges and cancer finally took her, though she fought the good fight. Lois' 93 years were filled to the brim with a constant curiosity and enthusiasm, and passions for her relationships (which she valued above all), travel, reading, writing (her letters to the editor often revealed her sharp wit), the water, painting, golfing, theater. But her greatest passion was music - her piano and singing. While neighborhood kids played with her brothers in their Felida yard, Lois was inside practicing her piano. Her soft, rich voice became a trademark at 16, when she began touring the West Coast as a big band soloist. Lois graduated from the old Vancouver High School on Main Street. Several years later, her calling became secondary to raising her daughter. Following divorce and returning home from San Francisco, Lois worked as an executive assistant, first at the City for the fire department, and then at Pacific Inland Navigation. At the age of 34, Lois fought her first cancer, and again six years later. But she couldn't be stopped. She next landed a job at Eastern Airlines, where lifelong friendships were formed and another passion was fulfilled. She is pictured up and down North America's coasts, everywhere in between, in several Western European capitals, in many Pacific and Caribbean islands and in Hong Kong. in 1977, following many years of navigating her life alone, Lois married the Southern gentleman who brought to her the love story she deserved. Together they found adventure, worked and built a happy life. Aside from their careers, they owned and ran a printing business and with Lois' brothers, a sailboat business. Just as they prepared to move to Singapore, Lois lost her husband of a mere twelve years. She lived 34 years without him, filling life with work in medical offices, travel, singing with Vancouver's Songspinners, cancer relays, luncheons with friends, shows, festivals and anything going on. She was interested in everything. She was a beautiful, proud, wise, warm, fun, sophisticated, talented, strong, independent, highly principled woman. She was the finest of mothers. She was a devoted and loyal friend. It wasn't always easy, but she lived a long, full life with dignity, grace and joy, and Lois Mullins will be sorely missed by many; never forgotten.
