Julie Maureen Lofgren

Julie Lofgren passed away peacefully on May 28, 2020 after three courageous battles with cancer, showing us the meaning of bravery and being a true fighter. She was born at St. Joseph Hospital in Vancouver to A. Warren and Dorothy Johnson on February 27, 1942. A lifelong resident of the Pacific Northwest, Julie lived in Vancouver, Camas, Hazel Dell, Bend, Hockinson, Battle Ground, and Yacolt. Julie graduated from Battle Ground High School and attended Clark College. It was at Clark College that she met the love of her life, John Lofgren, and their marriage spanned 52 years. Julie liked to work with numbers and meet new people which fit perfectly with her 25 year career as manager of Columbian Newspaper Credit Union. She followed that with 10 years of service in the Clark County Fair accounting office. She accomplished all of this while being a great mother to two children. Julie truly believed in family and was unselfishly caring, loving, and encouraging. She loved to entertain and host family events. Mom/Grandma Julie built traditions with her kids such as playing board games, Old Maid, Yahtzee, and coloring books. Her bottomless Christmas stockings were legendary. She spent countless hours supporting her children and grandchildren at school events, sporting events, and dance studios. Julie had many interests including sewing, knitting, crocheting, card and dice games, ceramics, music, walking/hiking, and travelling, especially to the Hawaiian islands. She was a member of a monthly Bunco group (for over 50 years), GWFC, and the Quarry Senior Living vocal group. Julie attended Laurelwood Baptist Church. Julie loved chickens and cardinals, but had a true soft spot for cats. Her cat friends included Big Boy, Middie, and Evee. Julie is survived by her brother, A. Warren (Nancy) Johnson Jr.; sister, Linda (Rodney) Nishimura; son, Eric (Kendra) Lofgren; daughter, Amy (Ronnie) Mason; grandchildren, Mallori (Adam), Haylee (Ryan), Madelyn, and Jonathan; great grandchild, Aubrey; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends. She was preceded in death by her husband John, and her parents A. Warren and Dorothy Johnson. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society For Southwest Washington. A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.
