Joyce Elizabeth Pickett

JOYCE ELIZABETH PICKETT April 14, 1935 ~ March 26, 2012 Joyce Elizabeth Pickett, 76, of Vancouver, WA, passed away peacefully at home on the morning of March 26, 2012, surrounded by her family and friends. She was born in Long Beach, CA on April 14, 1935, to Harriett and Golding Lynch. She became a big sister in 1945. Joyce lived in the Valley and attended George Washington High School in Los Angeles, where she was involved in various student activities and continued many friendships throughout her life. Joyce worked as a business accountant in the aerospace industry for many years before meeting and marrying the last man of her dreams, Elvie Cass Pickett in 1991. She and Elvie loved to tease each other about which strawberries were sweeter, CA or WA? They lovingly debated this for over 21 years and the family is still undecided. Joyce lived a very active life and touched so many others. She lead grief classes at The First Church of God and ministered to those hurting and in pain. She was a true friend and spent hours with her dear ones, but Joyce spent many more hours attending to her family. She was sister, wife, mother, grandma and nannie. She could be found on courtside, sideline, field, do jang and pool cheering on her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her favorite things to do were dying Easter-eggs and baking cookies with her family.and boy, could she wrap a present! Her arms might not have reached around them all but her heart was so big for so many for so long. Joyce is survived by her husband, Elvie Pickett; her sister, JoAnn Geronomi (Gary) of Las Vegas, NV; and her children: Christine Ann of Coos Bay, OR, Wesley Scott (Margie) of Moorpark, CA, Karen Butler (Tracy) of Battle Ground, WA; daughter-in-law, Cindy Scott of Moorpark, CA; her step-children: Sharlene Pickett (Ernie) of Everett, WA, Philip Pickett (Becky) of Vancouver, WA, Jonathan Pickett of Las Vegas, NV, Sharalyn Parker (Brad) of Everett, WA, David Pickett (Ilaha) of Suadi Arabia, Margaret Kinney of Atascadero, CA, Theresa Marken of Fountain, CA and Cynthia Heer of Morro Bay, CA; her grandchildren: Nicholas, Kaileb, Noah, Eli, Tyler, Trevor, Michael, Andrew, Kari, James, Chris, Christy, Cassie, Gabby, Erin , Stephen, Vincent, Anna, Marissa, Michelle, Emily, Andrew; and 15 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on April 14, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Church of God in Vancouver, WA.
