John Frederick Robinson

John Robinson Obituary Family is the anchor that holds us through life's storms and our family lost the chain to its anchor in the morning hours of October 3, 2023. John Frederick Robinson passed away in his home in Washougal, WA . John was born to Earl Matthew Robinson and Betty Louise (Wirsching) Robinson on September 22, 1954. John entered this world just as unexpectedly as he left it, in the middle of his childhood home. Betty didn't even know she was expecting and was sent home from the doctors not knowing what was wrong. Betty made a tuna fish sandwich to see if that would make her feel better. It didn't, but giving birth to her middle child and only son did. John grew up in Vancouver and graduated from Hudson Bay High School in 1972. John had a short stint at Clark College before joining the US Navy for four years. After the Navy John attended the University of Oregon where he found his two life loves, Mary and football. While attending the University of Oregon he walked on to the football team and during his time there he realized he would get more playing time with another University, this led him to Lewis and Clark. At Lewis and Clark where he was a standout lineman for the Pioneers he graduated with a bachelors degree and continued on to obtain his Masters Degree. The next phase of John's life took him to teaching and coaching, one of his true passions. John was the type of teacher that looked for the aha moments in his students. He always looked for the moments in life where he could pass on lessons that he had learned. He loved bringing out the best of his students, friends, and family. One of John's greatest coaching accomplishments was coaching the 1996 Roosevelt Roughriders football team. The bonds that were created during the play off run lasted for the rest of John's life, it was a bond that John truly cherished. John is survived by his wife of 43 years Mary (McMoneagle) Robinson, his three children and spouses Stephanie Peri-Provine (Derrick), John Robinson (Sarah), and Colleen Fujihara (Brandon), ten grandchildren, two sisters Linda and Liz, nieces and nephews as well as many other family and friends. While John will always live on in our hearts, a piece of us left on October 3rd. We will no longer see the joy John took in eating peppermint ice cream on the 4th of July or pecan pie at Thanksgiving. We won't see how his face lit up when his grandkids would come bounding into the room yelling Grandpa to give him a hug, or how he would smile when he would witness one of their many accomplishments. Christmas Eve won't be the same with him not standing in the middle of the room watching everyone opening up their gifts with that boyish grin on his face. While he will be deeply missed, we are eternally thankful for the lessons he instilled and the love of family he bestowed upon us.
