Hope Anjuli Preethi Coatney

HOPE COATNEY April 8, 1992 ~ September 5, 2015 Hope Coatney, 23, passed into the arms of her loving Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 5, 2015, after a nearly three-year battle with leukemia and complications of treatment. She was born in India, but arrived home to her forever family when she was 20 months old. Hope graduated from Fort Vancouver High School. She attended, and nearly attained, her degree from Concordia University as a Director of Christian Education with the emphasis on Family and Children's Ministry. At Concordia she was very active in Christian Life Ministries, and was a CLM Peer Minister. Hope dearly loved her time at Camp Lutherwood, and achieved her goal of being a summer camp counselor. Hope was a counselor two years at Camp Lutherhaven in Idaho, and one year at Camp Lutherwood in Oregon. Hope had a goal of making a difference in the world. If she made a difference in your life, I would love to hear about it. It would be nice if others carried on her goal by making a difference with their lives. Our thanks to Kohler Pavilion nurses and staff in 14K, and 13K, the ICU, and the CHM at OHSU; and the Manor Care nurses and staff. Hope was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran where she was baptized and confirmed (confirmed and stated her personal faith to her church family.) These two dates were the most important in her life. Her faith was her life foundation and was an absolute certainty in her life. She was a much loved child of the congregation. Hope was survived by her mother, Cathy Coatney, brother, Ben Coatney and uncle, Larry Coatney, all of Vancouver; her uncle, David (Sheri) Coatney of Allegany, NY; her cousins, Charles Matthew Coatney and Michael Coatney, Kierstin Coatney of Atlanta, GA, and Erin Coatney of Debary, FL; and her godmother, Lin (Randy) Whitney. She was preceded in death by her uncle, Charles W. Coatney; and grandparents, Charles J. and Dorothy Coatney. Her memorial service will be at Grace Lutheran Church, 9900 E. Mill Plain Blvd., Vancouver, WA at 3:00 on Sat., Sept. 19, 2015. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Lutheran Church or the Leukemia And Lymphoma Society .
