Harold Raymond Grindle, Sr.

In Loving Memory of Harold Raymond Grindle Sr. (Peepa, Grandpa) August 17th, 1937 - December 2nd, 2017 Harold was born to Leonard John and Ruth Grindle in Vancouver, WA as the youngest son of 9 siblings: his sister Lura Mae & Caroline, and his brothers Chuck, Carl, Jack, Bill, Ernie, Artie , and Lorn. Growing up, Peepa was very adventurous and outdoorsy. Harold and his brothers always seemed to be up to no good. Actually, when Harold's baby sister, Caroline, was born, he wanted to throw her in the trash. Little did he know, later in life he'd be running around in the orchards and fields picking apples and berries, enjoying these moments with all his siblings. Right out of high school, Harold joined the army and served most of his 3 years over seas in Korea. After returning home, Harold met his first wife, Mary Bright, at the age of 22 in the state of Washington. Mary left to Loveland, CO to be with her family. Harold was so in love with Mary that he followed her to Loveland to marry her. Harold worked at a tire factory in Loveland until they returned to Washington. Shortly after returning to Washington, Mary gave birth to their 2 beautiful children, Lura Mae and Harold Jr. After returning to Washington, Harold worked for Nicolai Door Company for roughly 20 years. Harold retired from Nicolai in 1983 and started working at The Washington State Blind School and Washington State Deaf School as security and janitorial; the children called him grandpa and was a staple to the schools. After his retirement from Nicolai, he met his second wife, Deanna, "Dee". Everyone Harold met, he had an instant connection with. He was outgoing, sarcastic, witty, vibrant, smart, a jokester and very flirtatious. These were just a few things that would drive Dee to fall deeply in love and marry Harold. Upon his marriage to Dee, he was blessed with his 2 step daughters Devra and Dana. One of Harolds biggest joys in life was being a father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was always holding & rocking his grandchildren and great grandchildren to sleep in the Peepa chair that no one was allowed to sit in, but we all did... he knew every time! Harold loved bowling, CB radio clubs, and traveling. Peepa also loved decorating his house for all the holidays which became an annual family event. For Halloween, Peepa made his home into a haunted house for all the children. They would go out trick-or-treating and the come home to eat a nice big bowl of his "famous" stew. For Christmas decorating started on Thanksgiving day and the goal was to make the block GLOW! Harold also loved dressing as Santa for his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Harold's life was overly full of love and joy. Everyone that had the pleasure of meeting Peepa loved and will remember him forever. He is survived by his sister Caroline Summers, daughters Lura Perry, Devra Cramer & Dana Fox, son Harold R. Grindle Jr., 8 grand children, and numerous great grandchildren. Preceded in his restful passing by his big sister Lura Mae, older brothers Chuck, Carl, Jack, Bill, Ernie, Artie, Lorn and his wife of 33 years, Deanna Grindle, "Mema". Forever in our hearts, Peepa.
