GRACE THOMAS LOWE May 7, 1916 ~ March 6, 2016 "More than anything in life, Grace loved her family and friends unconditionally, but most of all, she loved her Savior Jesus Christ." Grace Mary Thomas Lowe, 99, of Vancouver, WA, was carried away by her Lord at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 6, peacefully surrounded by family and friends at that moment being met in heaven by family and friends. Grace was born, Grace Mary Smith to parents John and Mable Smith on May 7, 1916 in Hollister, CA. She attended Hollister schools, graduating from Hollister High School. In school, Grace played several musical instruments and was involved in sports. She was proud to have marched in school bands. In 1937, Grace entered Glad Tidings Bible Institute in San Francisco, CA, later being named Bethany Bible College in Santa Cruz, CA, where she met and married her first husband, Floyd W. Thomas. Together over the years, she and Floyd pastured several churches in California, Happy Camp, Tracy, Marysville, and San Francisco. From 1944 to 1955, Grace and Floyd and their daughters were missionaries for the Assembly of God denomination in Ghana, West Africa. While there, they built a Bible School ministering to the African people. In 1979, Grace lost her husband to cancer. Three years later, she married Laverne Lowe, a friend from years past. Grace was also a school teacher, teaching in California. Because of her love for teaching, she was instrumental in starting a pre-school in San Francisco and teaching in a pre-school in Tualatin, OR. Grace had a great love for adventure and travel. She was blessed with the opportunity to travel with both husbands to many countries and most states in the U.S. Grace is survived by daughters, Diana Paul (Forrest), Ruth Pirolo, and Judi Penrose (Jim); brother, Herbert Smith; step-son-in-law, Paul Bevelhymer; step-daughters, Jeanette White (Walter) and Patricia Cooper (Jay); 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; brother, Rev. Everett Smith; son-in-law, Paul Pirolo; step-daughter, Beverly Bevelhymer; and granddaughter, Tanya White.
