Gordon Erdahl

Gordon "Gordy" Erdahl June 18, 1929 - October 3, 2021 Gordy Erdahl was born in Ortonville, Minnesota to Orville and Elsie Erdahl on July 18, 1929. He had a younger brother that passed shortly after birth. Gordy passed on October 3, 2021. Gordy served in the U.S. Army and fought in the Korean War. It was at the end of the war that he was chosen to trigger the last howitzer round for the First Calvary Division. Unfortunately, a Senior Officer took that honor away from Gordy for a photo op. Gordy served to the end and was very proud of his contribution. When he returned home, he met the love of his life, Lucille "Lukey" Flack, at a dance in Big Stone, South Dakota in 1955. They married the next year on May 20, 1956. They were inseparable and had a lasting love and respect for each other during their 65 years of marriage. Gordy and Lukey lived in Milbank, South Dakota; Portland, Oregon; and Vancouver, Washington before settling in Battle Ground, Washington. There, Gordy worked for the Battle Ground School District after several years at Alcoa. Gordy and Lukey shared a deep love for the Lord and were very involved at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. They were on the preschool committee and enjoyed the Sunday services and social time that followed. They were blessed to meet wonderful friends at the church. They became very close to families living on 278th Street and referred to themselves as "The Spoiled Kids on the Block". Roger & Sue Carter, Stephen & Nancy Moyer, Dennis & Sharon Hanson, Patty Morgan, and others became their family. You never heard Gordy speak a bad word about anyone. He had a kind heart, a great sense of humor and a passion for our Country. He is survived by his bride, Lukey, who resides at Cedars View Senior Care; nephew Chip Flack (Milbank, South Dakota) and cousin Doug Welde (Portland Oregon). This is in addition to his families on 278th Street. He was so loved by all. You are invited to a memorial service at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church on November 6 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Prince of Peace Lutheran Preschool or The Humane Society of Southwest Washington.
