Gerald Lamarr Perry

Gerald Lamarr Perry, affectionately known as "Gerry" to family and friends, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2024, at his home in Vancouver, Washington. He was born on June 19, 1926, in Cusick, Washington, the cherished son of Luis Milton Perry and Katherine M. Perry. Gerald's early years in Cusick, Washington, instilled in him a lifelong appreciation for the beauty of the Pacific Northwest and a deep commitment to hard work and integrity. He graduated from high school (school unknown) before enlisting in the U.S. Navy, proudly serving his country during World War II. His time in the Navy ignited a spirit of adventure, sparking a love of exploration that he carried with him throughout his life. In November 1946, Gerald married the love of his life, Lois Joyce Hoisington Perry. Their bond was one of unwavering love and support, and together they built a life centered on kindness, family, and mutual respect. They shared more than five decades of marriage, remaining devoted partners until Lois's passing in 2003. Gerald and Lois's love story serves as an enduring legacy of companionship, and the countless memories they created together brought him comfort and joy throughout his life. Following his service, Gerald embarked on a lifelong career with the State Highway Department. Known for his dedication and reliability, he took pride in contributing to Washington's infrastructure, ensuring safe and well-maintained roads for the people of his beloved state. His work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to public service made him a respected colleague and an invaluable member of his community. Gerald and Lois were blessed with two children. Their son, Gerald Luis "Skip" Perry, who was a source of immense pride, has also passed. Gerald's legacy lives on through his daughter, Juanita Marie Ritty, of Mount Airy, Maryland, who cherished her father and the wisdom and warmth he shared. Gerald is survived by his loving son-in-law, Donald Ritty, and his beloved granddaughter, Tammy (Tamar) Bradley, along with her husband, James Bradley. Gerald's great-granddaughter, Jasmine Bradley, brought him immense joy and hope for the future, embodying the family values he held dear. A man of immense kindness and generosity, Gerald was always the first to lend a hand to those in need. His friends and family knew him as someone they could count on, whether it was for help with a task or simply a compassionate ear. His natural empathy and quiet strength left an indelible mark on everyone he met. Gerald embraced his love of travel, cultivated during his Navy years, and he and Lois spent many happy years exploring the country in their motorhome. They delighted in the freedom of the open road, camping, and discovering new landscapes together. Their adventures took them to cherished destinations across the United States, creating memories of laughter, beauty, and togetherness. Gerald will be dearly missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of love, resilience, and generosity will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), in honor of Gerald's spirit of service and his dedication to helping others. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
