Gary John Fischer

On August 15, 2016 Gary John Fischer passed away 18-months after being diagnosed with bile duct cancer. He was surrounded by his immediate family. Gary was born in a small house in Fern Prairie, WA on February 9, 1940. He was the 4th son born to Lloyd and Margaret Fischer. He attended Camas High School and worked on the Fischer family farm as well as the Camas Papermill. In 1958 Gary was drafted into the Army and sent to Germany, where he served for 2 years. When he returned to the states, he met and married the love of his life, Ciria Noemi Peinado. For 25 years they lived and raised their two daughters, Kimberly and Diana in Glendale, California. After working as a truck driver for 25 years, Gary retired from Sysco Foods and moved back to Prune Hill in Camas, Washington to be close to his daughters and grandchildren. Gary lived a simple life. He had a passion for golf and was very good. He loved playing with his brother Neil and several of his nephews. Gary was also a wonderful Grandpa to his 3 grandsons and 2 granddaughters. They were his prides of joy and he loved them very much and spent lots of time with them at family gatherings as well as individually. Gary enjoyed daily visits to KFC, Camas Safeway and IHOP. No matter who you were, Gary treated you like family. He was a kind spirit, caring, supportive, happy and always making everyone around him smile and laugh, either with a funny joke, a silly story of the past or from a good tickle. Grandpa loved being surrounded by kids because in life, he truly was a kid at heart. Gary was preceded in death by his brothers Ken Fischer, Alan Fischer, sister and brother-in-law Linda and Duane Buhrmester, nephew Steven Allyn, neice Lori Fischer and the love of his life of 45 years, Ciria Fischer. Gary is survived by his two daughters Kimberly Daniels (spouse Michael Daniels), Diana Fischer and his grandchildren, Conor, Andrew, Sidney, Kaeli and Rebecca, as well as his brothers Neil Fischer, Loren Fischer and sister Jean Wollom. Gary's life will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 23rd, 10AM at Evergreen Memorial Gardens at 1101 NE 112th Ave., Vancouver, WA 98684. There will be a reception immediately following at his residence in Camas, Washington.
