Flora Irene Myron

Our wonderful Mother, Grandma, and caring friend, found peace with her Savior on March 13, 2011, with her family by her side. She had been through many trials in her life but always kept her beautiful smile and comforting spirit. Flora would not go out the door without her hair curled, fresh lipstick, and wearing many pieces of jewelry. She loved butterflies and had a roomful of them on her walls, her counters and on her person, Friends would call her "The Butterfly Lady". She is now out of that old cocoon and is flying free. She is survived by her children: Carol Vogel (Richard), of Littleton, Colorado; Roberta Forbes (Robert) of Gresham, Oregon; and Mary Heuvel (William) of Battle Ground, Washington. She is also survived by a sister, JoAnn Jeremiah of Pacifica, California. She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Angie Lawrence (David); Michael Forbes (Jennifer); Jill Forbes, Ben Heuvel (Erin); Andy Heuvel, and Emily Cornell (Matt). She also has 7 great-grandchildren, and many wonderful caring relatives and friends. Flora was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Michael, her dear son, Timothy Michael; sisters, Ruth Scott, Doris Lane, Belva Watson, and brother Warren Clothier. Flora was born on August 31, 1918 in Petersburg, Michigan, to Rosa and Herbert Clothier and moved with her parents and older sister to Washington State when she was a child. Flora and her family lived in Ellsworth, Washington where she grew up. She graduated from Union High School in 1935. She attended Kim's Business College and worked as a secretary and file clerk at the Fletcher Daniels Abstract and Title Company in Vancouver, Washington. She married Michael on January 21, 1942 in Vancouver, while Michael was serving in the U.S. Army. She enjoyed being an at-home wife and mother and baked fresh cookies for after school treats not only for her children, but the neighbor children, too. Flora was very active in the John Rogers PTA, holding many offices, while her children attended elementary school and was also a leader for the Camp Fire Girls. Flora was very active at The Mill Plain United Methodist Church, now called Vancouver Heights United Methodist Church, She was a member and office holder in Sarah's Circle, and recorded attendance at the church for over 25 years. She crocheted around baby blankets, made knit hats for gifts and donations and helped to collect school supplies for needy students. She was also a member of Washington Grange, Independent Order of Foresters and AARP. Flora was a resident at Cascade Inn Retirement Home for 6 years and The Golden Age Adult Family Home in Battle Ground, Washington, for nearly 2 years, where she received tender loving care.
