Evelyne Clara Hulme

"Evelyne will be greatly missed by family and friends as she joins Walter in final slumber." Evelyne Clara Hulme, 90, Vancouver, WA. Passed away peacefully with her family at her side. She was able to visit with her many friends and spend time with her loving family before she passed. She was able to say her goodbyes to all and for that she was very grateful. Evelyn and Walter were married June 14, 1947 and had 2 children together. Evelyne and their children joined Walter at various duty stations. She was a retired bookkeeper and girl Friday. And volunteered continuously for various organizations and groups. Evelyne loved to garden, as well as sewing, arts and crafts, and entertaining. Her love for all animals led her to volunteering man hrs with the original Humane Society of Vancouver in the 60's. Many times answering the call to rescue an animal in the early hrs. of the morning. While Walt was stationed in Midway Island in the 50's, she helped to start a Brownie group. She was also a Cub Scout den mother while they were stationed in Southern California. Walter and Evelyne sold their home in Ridgefield, WA and RV'd for 6 ½ years making many friends as they traveled, finally settling in Henderson Nv. For 12 yrs. As they grew older, they decided to move back to Vancouver to be closer to family. She has resided in Vancouver for the past 15 years making many close friends. After Walt passed away, Evelyne continued to play cards with her card playing friends, and did volunteer work with Vancouver's local Veteran Group. Evelyne was preceded in death by Walter her loving husband of 68 years. She leaves behind her Daughter Debra (Debbie) L. Witcher, (Dennis) of Vancouver, WA. Son Douglas A. Hulme of Longview, WA. Five Grandchildren, Christopher D. Robertson, Shawn D. Robertson (Sandra), Jennifer D. Olson, (Daniel), Keith A. Hulme all of Vancouver and Evette Farra of Aloha, Oregon. 8 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Special family friends Fredrick Coombs III (Jock), and Marcia Judkins. Memorial service will be held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, 1101 NE 112th Ave, Vancouver, WA. Sunday Sept. 15, 2019 at 3 PM. Gather in the Hospitality Room after the service to share memories of Evelyn. Evelyne is at peace joining Husband Walter in final slumber knowing her beloved Suzie Q is well cared for. We suggest donations be made to the American Cancer Association, a local Veterans Group, or The community Home and Hospice Care of Vancouver or Longview.
