Eleanor L. Green

ELEANOR L. GREEN May 16, 1932 ~ June 30, 2015 Eleanor was born to Arthur and Rose Kasulka in South Dakota. Her family moved to Vancouver, WA in 1943. Eleanor attended Vancouver High School. She started dating Stanford Green during her sophomore year in high school after she walked past him and he commented, "Nice sweater!" She often said, "Stan was a fast runner, the state champion; but I caught him." The high school sweethearts were married in 1953, and enjoyed 54 years of a loving marriage. On their wedding anniversaries, Stan gave her a bouquet of roses; which consisted of one rose for every year they had been married. Eleanor attended the University of Washington, and the University of Portland, where she earned her Master's Degree in Education. She taught first and second grades at King Elementary School. She and Stan had three children: Pamela Green (Vilhauer), Calvin Green, and Londa Grenz. Her faith was very important to her. Eleanor was a member of the First United Methodist Church for 55 years. She developed many lifelong friendships within her church family. Eleanor treasured her family and friends, and took great delight in hosting gatherings. She enjoyed sewing, playing bridge, crafting, and reading. Eleanor lost her loving husband Stanford in 2007. A few years later, a former schoolmate, Boyd Dewey came along and swooped her off her feet. She and Boyd married, and enjoyed 6 wonderful years together. Eleanor also leaves behind her seven grandchildren: Tyson, Chelsea, Hailey, Spencer, Morgan, Johnathan, and Dakota; along with three great-grandchildren: Easton, Harper, and Haven. Other survivors include her sisters: Arlene Scarpelli, Jean Carpenter, and Barbara Reeves; son-in-law, David Grenz; and daughter-in-law, Danielle Green. Eleanor was a truly kind person with a tender heart. She continually looked for, and found the best in everyone. Those of us who had the pleasure to know and love her, will miss her dearly.
