Drenda Lorine Young

Drenda Lorine (Downey) Young finished her journey in this life at home in Camas, WA under hospice care on Tuesday May 9, 2023. She was 61 years old. At the time of her passing her partner, Tim Gunn and Lianna Gunn Sarkkinen were at her side. Her Mother, Daughter and Son also attended to her hospice care. Drenda died of complications from liver and kidney failure. Drenda lived in the Camas area for the past 5 years. Prior to moving to Camas, she lived in Yuma, AZ, Austin, TX, San Antonio, TX, Virginia, and Jarrettsville, MD. She earned an Associate Degree from Harford Community College in retail management where she was employed by The Hect Company. She graduated North Harford High School in 1979. She played the flute and piccolo in the North Harford High School band. She enjoyed the band competitions and marching band activities. Drenda Young was born on August 27, 1961 to Gerald Dean Dunnam and his wife, Priscilla Kay Codispoti. Drenda was born in Yuma, AZ at the Parkview Baptist Hospital. She is survived by her mother, Priscilla Kay Downey, her daughter, Alexandra McLain Wiesand, her son, Collin Ward Young, her brother Dale Downey, her partner, Tim Gunn and sisters, Jerry Nelson and Alyson Hehe. Drenda lived life on her terms. She was known for her friendly caring attitude and enjoyed hosting her friends and family. Her rapier wit and sense of humor was enjoyed by any one she would meet. Drenda was fond of the 80's music and attended concerts in the local area when ever her favorite bands showed up in town. She supported various fund-raising for CDM, North-West Wine and Food Society, and Cascadia Technical Academy. Her appreciation of the North West grew as she lived here and enjoyed going camping when ever the occasions would arise. She adored her partner's grandkids and one of her favorite activities was taking them trick or treating and family gatherings. Memorial services to honor Drenda's life will be held on May 25th, 3PM at Evergreen Memorial Gardens located at 1101 NE 112th AV, Vancouver, WA 98684 followed by a reception at 5PM at Nuestra Mesa located at 228 NE 4th Av, Camas, WA 98607 following the services.
