Douglas Howard Harris

Douglas H. Harris, age 51, died at home in Vancouver, Washington on June 4, 2020. He was born on July 30, 1968 in Vancouver, Washington to his parents, John and Kathleen. Doug grew up in Vancouver and graduated from Evergreen High School in 1986. He continued his education after earning a scholarship to play football at Eastern Washington University. He graduated in 1991, earning his Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Communications. Doug is survived by his loving wife of sixteen years, Ann Marie Harris. He is also survived by his father, John Harris, Sr., and his brother, John Harris, Jr. He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathleen Briggs. He leaves behind loving in-laws, nieces and nephews and many friends, all of whom will miss him. Doug enjoyed spending time with family and close friends for gatherings as simple as a backyard BBQ, sitting around a fire pit, holidays, music concerts, sporting events, weekend getaways or a tropical vacation. Doug had many nicknames, and those closest to him called him Boo, Uncle Boo, Douger, Howie T-Bone, Dougie, Snoop Dougie Doug and Big D. He had a passion for weight training and a dedication to keeping fit - a necessity to balance his LOVE of sweets. Although he mostly kept to himself while working out, Doug was often approached by fellow gym members for training advice or tips. He was always willing to talk and would mentor upcoming athletes when asked. Football was a big part of Doug's life and he enjoyed all aspects - playing, coaching, and watching his alma mater...Go Eags! Doug recently developed an interest in classic cars. He loved driving his 1969 Camaro to the local cruise-ins and would spend hours detailing it. Doug was very skilled in a variety of construction trades which ultimately led him to open his own business. He took pride in his work, and his craftsmanship was evident in each project. Although he was affectionately teased at times for his meticulous attention to detail, the personal satisfaction was always worth it to Doug. A celebration of Doug's life will be held in a private ceremony for his family and his closest friends at a later date.
