Dolores (Dolly) Lucille Rees

Dolores was born in Vancouver, Washington on December 22, 1929. Growing up during the Great Depression she worked hard even as a child and acquired a lifelong habit of thrift. She married after high school and the end of World II to Lewis Rees of Cathlamet, Washington when he completed his service in the United States Navy. She remained by his side for 74 years until her passing. She was a devoted wife and loving mother to her five children and kind grandmother to her four grandchildren. She was a tutor, nurse and wise counselor to her large family. An excellent self-taught cook, she was not afraid of cleaning fish, roasting turkeys and meats or peeling and boiling large pots of potatoes. Most important to her children and grandchildren, she baked countless pies, cookies and other treats in her kitchen which was always spotless despite its constant use. Dolores was also frequently found in the garden, pulling weeds, watering, pruning and staking flowers and shrubs. Throughout her life, she was charitable, kind, modest and never spoke a word against another person.Upon her husband Lou's retirement from Crown Zellerbach Corporation, she traveled the world with him, visiting nearly every continent. Eventually they left their Vancouver home and resided in Fort Mohave, Arizona until her death. She is survived by her husband Lewis, her children and their spouses Kathy and Al Salle of Vancouver, Washington; Judy and Robert Cole of Brush Prairie, Washington; Louis and Kris Rees of Hemet, California; Kenneth and Lori Rees of Camarillo, California; Donald and Colette Rees of Portland, Oregon; grandchildren David (Anita) Rees of Temecula, California; Brian (Katie) Rees of Flagstaff, Arizona; Jack Rees of Portland, Oregon and Elizabeth Rees of Portland, Oregon; four step-grandchildren and eight step great garden children.She is preceded in death by her parents Perry Miles and Elizabeth Inga (Relyea) Crabb, her sister Phyllis Goble, and brothers Robert and Bud Crabb.She is buried at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Vancouver, Washington. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. She lived a long and beautiful life and her family is grateful for her unconditional love.
