Delores V. Hansen

Married March 15, 1945, Bud and Delores passed together into the loving arms of their Lord and Savior after 65 years of marriage. Bud, 85, died of natural causes on Thursday, August 27, 2009, at his home in Vancouver, WA. Delores, 81, died on Monday, August 31, 2009, at Southwest Washington Medical Center after a valiant and lengthy battle with COPD. Bud was born on August 8, 1924, in Rockwood, Oregon, to Carl and Louella Hansen. A long-time Clark County resident, Bud retired from the Vancouver Police Department after more than 20 years and pursued his second love as a general contractor until he finally retired at age 82. In his early life, he served four years in the U.S. Army, where he trained troops for combat action overseas. After returning from military service, he worked in a variety of jobs, including Vancouver Plywood, to support his family. Delores was born on February 10, 1928, in Williston, North Dakota, to Fred and Lillian Finch. Delores moved to Clark County as a child, where she, at the age of 17, married Bud. Delores worked a variety of jobs to help with family obligations, including Jantzen Knitting Mill. Together, Bud and Delores raised three children, while Delores devoted her time to family, home, gardening and friends. Bud and Delores are survived by their sons, Joe Hansen, and his wife, Karen Alexander (Battle Ground), and Jim Hansen, his husband, Tim Meagher, and daughter, Jennelle Hansen (Vancouver); their daughter, Deanna Nelson (Vancouver), and her children Danielle (Seattle), Jeremy (Vancouver) and Michelle (Portland). They also have two great grandchildren, Hayden Nelson and Bennett Johnson, and many loving nieces and nephews. Bud is survived by his brother, David Hansen and his wife, Margie (Vancouver), and his sisters, Ester Perkins (Battle Ground), Norie Nurhring and her husband Ed Nurhring (Portland), Marie DeGrande (Keno, OR), Johanna Younkin (Athol, ID), and brother-in-law Bob Joner (Vancouver). He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Louella and Joel Hansen (Vancouver); his sisters, Lillian Joner (Vancouver) and Juanita Malicki and her husband Mack (Vancouver); and brothers-in-law Merle Perkins, Bob Younkin and Joe DeGrande. Delores is survived by her brother, Norman Finch and his wife, Fanney (Vancouver) and brothers-in-law, Richard Beck (Portland), Robert Rodgers (Port St. Lucie, FL) and Bob Jarman (Reno). She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Lillian Finch (Vancouver); her brothers, Clayton Finch and his wife Ruth (Reno), Ralph Finch and his wife Vera (Houston, TX), and Wilbur "Bill" Finch (Reno); as well as her sisters, Mary Beck (Portland) and Louella Rodgers (Port St. Lucie, FL). Both were preceded in death by their son-in-law Danny Nelson (Vancouver). Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 4, 2009, at 3:00 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, 1101 N.E. 112th Ave., Vancouver, WA 98604.
