David Michael Summers

David "Dave" Michael Summers, age 36, passed away on July 11th. Dave was fortunate to grow up in the strong community of St. Helens, Oregon. Upon graduation from St. Helens High School in 2005, Dave followed his passion for baking and cake decorating with an internship JacIvas Bakery after studying at Clark College in Vancouver. Through the support of his family, in 2010 Dave enlisted in the US Army/Dave served in the US Army from 2010 to 2018. Dave completed Basic Training and Airborne School at Ft Benning, Georgia. The Dave's first duty station was USAG Schweinfurt Germany from where he was deployed to Afghanistan in 2012 -2013 Operation Enduring Freedom with the 173rd Airborne. From Schweinfurt he was able to move closer to family in North Carolina at Fort Bragg, 2013-2015. Dave received an honorable discharge as a Specialist while stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas in 2018. Dave and his family were excited to return home to the Pacific Northwest where Dave pursued a career as a Carpenter, journeying out in 2022. David will fondly be remembered by all that knew him for having a ridiculously kind soul, unique ability to make anyone laugh, and gentle way of soothing even the most cantankerous of infants to sleep. Dave was not a stranger to anyone for long. He was known to make space at the dinner table for new friends. In Dave's down time, he loved to read, play tabletop and video games with his friends and family. David loved to laugh and bring laughter to those around him. He took pride in teaching his children how to play games they could all participate in together/enjoy the simple things in life/torment each other/appreciation of life in general. He also enjoyed sharing his love of herpetology with his children. Dave is survived by his wife, Alisha and three teenagers, Anna-Marie (Raven) 17, Kaida 15, and Kristen 14; his parents Ron and Cindy Summers; his sister Megan Warneke. His family has organized a memorial service to honor Dave and his military service, at Willamette National Cemetery on July 6th at 11:30 am. As well as a celebration of Dave's life on Saturday, July 8th at Saint Helens Elks Lodge from 2pm-5pm.
