(Charles) Albert Brookins

Albert was born in Oxnard, California to Charles Donald and Robert Ellen (Raff) Brookins. He had a brother Russell (Lebanon, Or) and a sister Donna Marie Smith (Grand Junction, Co). They preceded him in death. He grew up in Eastern Utah. In a small mining town. His family moved to Grand Junction Colorado where he went to grade school, High School and attended Mesa College in Grand Junction Colorado. He also attended College in Southern California and University of Colorado in Boulder, Co. After College he worked for several fortune 500 engineering firms under contract with the City of Denver, Colorado. He was a superintendent for a major interstate highway project and the new Denver International Airport. While in Denver he owned an underwater construction company with two close friends. They did underwater construction repairing dams and underwater search and recovery. From there he transitioned to a position as Senior Building Plans examiner for the City of Vancouver, WA. From 1994 until 2014. He had vacationed in the Pacific Northwest for years and wanted to move to the area. Albert married Susan Marian Hoshock on April 23, 1977. He was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints in 2018. They were married for time and eternity in the Portland Oregon Temple March 22, 2019. Over the years they both enjoyed traveling together; scuba Diving, kayaking, hiking, snow shoeing, and the most important thing was being with friends and family. He loved fishing from his boat with his friends. He was a Master Diver as well as a sport diver. His hobbies included reading at least a hundred books a year, genealogy, entomology, knife making, woodworking and gardening. He was always working on an interesting project. He loved his dogs Quigley and Maddie and gave them the best life a dog can have. He excelled in all his endeavors. He always said "Never ever lose touch with your own insignificance." He did not realize what a positive influence his life and example was to others. The one thing he truly excelled at was being a wonderful, kind, supportive and loving husband. Albert was known for his quick wit, his generosity, and his kindness. He always tried to see both sides of an opinion and saw the good in everyone he met. He was always there for family and friends who needed help. Albert leaves behind many wonderful friends and a genuinely loving family. His wife Susan, Sister-in law Kathy (Gary) Rowles, Niece Deborah (Rob) Ruisbroek, their daughters Alyssa and Rebecca, nephew Daniel Brookins and many extended family members.. Albert was loved by so many and will truly be missed. Until we meet again, those special memories of you will always bring a smile. When we are reunited again, it will be forevermore.
