Caroline June Iverson

CAROLINE JUNE IVERSON June 28, 1942 ~ July 22, 2014 Caroline June Iverson, 72, passed away peacefully at Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland, OR on July 22, 2014 after a long and courageously endured battle with cancer. She was born in St. Cloud, Minnesota and graduated from St. Louis Park High School in 1960. From there, she moved out west to attend Grays Harbor Junior College in Aberdeen, Washington where she majored in foreign language, finally settling in Vancouver, Washington. Caroline worked as cost accountant at Olson Electric from 1969-1973, then as an office manager/cost accountant at Henry Greybrook AIA from 1973-1976, and in 1976 she took a bookkeeping position at Vancouver Roofing and Sheet Metal and made that her permanent home. In lieu of taking bonus' Caroline asked for stock options in the company throughout her tenure and eventually she had enough stock to become part owner in 1986. In 2000 she purchased the remainder of the company and became the sole owner and President of Vancouver Roofing and Sheet Metal where she remained until her passing. As a charter member of Women in Construction, she used every opportunity as a women owned business, to advance the company to what it is today treating her employees as her own family and promoting a positive workplace environment. Caroline was very adventurous throughout her life and enjoyed traveling and being outdoors. Among her passions were sailing, golfing, and snow skiing, but her love of the beach trumped most everything. She loved to take her Z-car and drive to the beach with the top down and the wind in her hair. Caroline was generous and dedicated not only to the company, but to her employees and friends, who she considered as her family. She will always be remembered for her wit, positive attitude, willingness to help others, and her sparkle for life. She will be dearly missed by all. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at the Red Lion Hotel Vancouver at the Quay in the Grand Ball Room from 7:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m. Placement will be at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery Friday, August 15, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. Please sign her guestbook at www.columbian.com/obits
