Basil K. Boal

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Basil Kenneth Boal, at the age of 92, on May 7, 2022. He was a devoted husband and father, loving son and brother and steadfast friend to many. Kenneth was born on April 24, 1930, to Roy and Leyla Boal in Oklahoma City, OK. He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister, David and Jessie; and survived by his sister, Elsie. His family moved west when Kenneth was a young boy, living in various places until finally settling in Vancouver, WA. Kenneth was blessed with a large and loving family. He met his beautiful wife, Bette Lu, when they were just teenagers in Vancouver. Their love has spanned over 70 wonderful years. They are blessed with four sons and one daughter: Kenneth Dean (wife Tracy), James Richard (wife Alison), Gary Lynn (wife Cheri), Edgar Roy (wife Mary) and Michele Marie. They have 12 amazing grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Deeply loved by his family, Kenneth was a wonderful husband and father and an exceptional man. Throughout his life, he guided his children and grandchildren offering pearls of wisdom that ranged from how to wire a 3-way switch to how best to make homemade ice cream and popcorn balls. He had a keen sense of humor and a quick wit. Conversations with him could always lead to smiles and laughter as he'd innocently slide in an unexpected quip. Even up until the very end, Kenneth kept his sense of humor. Kenneth loved to play card and dice games with anyone who was willing to face off with him and his incredible luck. His luck extended not only to cards and dice but also to golf. An avid golfer, Kenneth was lucky enough to get not one but two hole-in-ones in his lifetime! More often than not, Kenneth led by example. Kenneth was a kind and caring person who touched the lives of all he came across. His life was a living example of the Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 - "And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ." While he may not be with us, he is forever in our hearts. A memorial service will be held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens (1101 NE 112th Ave, Vancouver, WA 98684) on Friday, May 20th at 12:30 p.m. followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Basil Kenneth Boal's memory to Vancouver Church - First Church of God, 3300 NE 78th St, Vancouver, WA 98665.
