Barbara Jean Kreinbring

Barbara Jean Kreinbring, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on March 26, 2024, at the age of 91. She was born on March 15, 1933 to Lawrence Albert Herman Fisher and Emma Mae Harding Fisher, the second of four children. Barb's journey through life was one filled with dedication, creativity, and a great sense of humor. She graduated from Evergreen High School in 1951 and later that year married Earl Raymond "Sonny" Kreinbring. After his service in the Army during the Korean War, they came home to Clark County and operated the family dairy farm in Brush Prairie for many years. Barb loved the animals and farm work, especially driving tractors and trucks! Throughout her life, Barb displayed remarkable talents and versatility. Musically gifted, she played the clarinet and drums in her high school band, was a self-taught piano player, and sang in the church choir. Her athleticism was equally impressive. She was an ace pitcher in fast pitch softball and an excellent shot with both rifle and pistol. Barb was artistically talented with pencil, ink, paint, and clay. She painted the "As You Like It" 4-H club sign that hangs in the dairy barn at the Clark County Fair. From a young age, Barb was actively involved in 4-H, winning a statewide competition for dressmaking at age 15. She later became a dedicated 4-H leader, guiding and inspiring countless young minds. She entertained everybody by leading group sing-alongs and performing in zany skits at 4-H camp. Barb's commitment to education was unwavering. As a mother she relentlessly pushed her children to excel in school. After they finished school, she pursued higher education starting at Clark College in 1978 and graduating Summa Cum Laude from Lewis & Clark College in 1982. She received her master's degree from Lewis & Clark in 1986. Barb went on to teach middle school in the Battle Ground School District until her retirement in 1999. During her retirement, Barb embraced life with enthusiasm, always eager to explore new horizons. She travelled far and wide, including Canada, Mexico, Europe, and all over the U.S. She was an avid horticulturist and raised sheep and chickens.Barb is survived by her sister, Pat Wallenmeyer, her children Jeff Kreinbring and Tracy Betcher, three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Her memory will forever be cherished by all who knew her. Though she is gone from our sight, her spirit will continue to inspire us all. A memorial service will be held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens on Friday, April 12, 2024, at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her name to her favorite charity, Heifer International.
