Barbara M. Daniels

BARBARA MARY DANIELS November 18, 1924 ˜ February 13, 2022 Barbara Mary Daniels passed away Feb. 13, 2022, at the Ray Hickey House. She was born Nov. 18, 1924, in Hillsboro, OR, to Herbert and Myrtle Kappel. She grew up in Forest Grove, OR, where she graduated from Forest Grove High School. She met and married Maurice Alvin "Al" Daniels, who was attending college at Pacific University in Forest Grove. Barb and Al married on Aug. 18, 1946. While living in Forest Grove, Cheryl Lynn was born in 1948 followed by Curtis Herbert in 1949. After Al graduated from college, he taught in numerous small communities where Barb and Al made lifelong friends. They moved to California when Al became a General Manager for several minor league baseball teams. Eventually they settled in Pasco, WA. Barb was a big supporter of Cheryl and Curt's school, community, and sporting activities.In 1968 the family moved to Vancouver, WA, where Barb and Al both worked for the Vancouver School District After Al's passing in 1983, Barb immersed herself in her children and grandchildren's activities. She spent many hours volunteering in the community and helped start the District Clothes Closet. She also spent many years volunteering in the gift shop at Albertina Kerr in Portland, as well as the First United Methodist Church. Barb enjoyed golfing, baseball, walking, traveling, and loved spending time with her many friends and family. She especially enjoyed baseball, supporting both her husband and son as they pursued their passion. She was given the name of "Baseball Barb" and was well known as a loyal fan of the Vancouver Cardinals, Hudson's Bay Eagles and the Seattle Mariners. She loved watching her grandsons and great-grandchildren participate in their sports activities. You could always find Barb helping out for some fundraiser or event. She was hardworking, helpful, generous and loved by her family and friends. Her "can do" spirit and spunk was an inspiration to all. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Al; son, Curt; and brother, Herb. She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl; daughter-in-law, Pam Blaufus (Larry); grandsons, Tyler, Colby (Tina); and great-grandchildren, Savannah and Cooper; all of whom loved her dearly. A funeral service will be held Feb. 25, 2022, at 12:30 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, 1101 NE 112th Avenue, Vancouver, WA 98684.
