Anna Marie Burden

ANNA MARIE (ROYER) BURDEN April 1, 1950 ~ February 5, 2017 Anna Burden, 66, passed away in her sleep in the early morning hours of February 5, 2017, at her home in Vancouver, WA, shortly after coming down with the flu. She was born on April 1, 1950 to Eunice and Rowland Royer at Fort Ord, CA, while her father was in the Army. She grew up in Vancouver from the age of six and graduated from Evergreen High School, there becoming the youngest editor to that date of the school newspaper. Anna married Gerald "Jerry" Burden on October 15, 1977, in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii. They lived in Tualatin, OR, until 1986 and then relocated to Orange County, CA, with her husband's employment. Anna had an outstanding 30 year career as a real estate Escrow Officer and Manager, the first ten years being in the Portland area and the next 20 years in Orange County, CA. Throughout her career she participated in escrow industry professional associations and could always be counted on to contribute her time and efforts to the educational, regulatory and legislative objectives of the industry. On four occasions in Oregon and California, she served as President of her county and state level associations. Upon retiring in 2006, she found a home she loved in the Fairway Village community of Vancouver and she and her husband moved back from Southern California. She enjoyed every day her eleven years here. As always, she was involved in the community and generously contributed her time and talents to Fairway Village groups, clubs and committees. She was currently serving on the Fairway Village Homeowner's Association Board of Directors and had just completed a year as President of the Fairway Village Ladies Golf Club. Anna was a devoted member of the Laurelwood Baptist Church and made it to services every Sunday even though she was limited by a back problem during her last year. She also loved being a member of Laurelwood Ladies Bible Study and was a regular member of the Bible Study group at Fairway Village. Anna is survived by her husband, Jerry; two children: Cynthia Davidson of Beaverton, OR and Timothy Davidson of Vancouver; stepson, David (Lynette) Burden of Shepherdsville, KY; brother, Duane (Linda) Royer of Vancouver; sister, Cheryl (Dan) O'Donnell of Vancouver; four grandchildren; and five nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and by stepdaughter, Christine Nichols of Lafayette, OR. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 12:30 PM at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, 1101 NE 112th Avenue, Vancouver, WA 98684.
