Alice A. Skaaden

Alice Ann Skaaden February 2, 1936 - June 21, 2020 Alice Ann (King) (Yancey) Skaaden peacefully passed away on June 21, 2020, in Vancouver, Washington, of natural causes at the age of 84. She was born on February 22, 1936, to John Jay & Verla (Scoggin) King in Pomeroy, Washington. She loved the Lord with all her heart and was a loving and caring person who will be missed by all. Alice lived the majority of her life in Vancouver, Washington, graduated from Vancouver High School in 1954, and had her first job at Waddle's restaurant when she was 16 years old. In her later years, she loved telling people that her first job was at a restaurant that became quite an icon in the area. Alice then went on to be a telephone operator at Pacific Northwest Bell. She eventually retired from PNB (US West) after 33 years as a PBX Crew Supervisor. Alice was a faithful member of City Harvest Church in Vancouver, Washington where she attended and served until she was no longer able to due to dementia. Alice is survived by her sister Lora King and brother Patrick McManus, her children Mike Yancey (Tia) of Vancouver, WA, Erin Yancey, Alan Yancey (Mariella), and Joy Duran (Javier). Her 13 grandchildren Jason, Jessica, Kyle, Keith, Carissa, Briana, Rachel, Jonathan, Jennifer, Melissa, Michelle, Tiffany, and Sarah. And, her 18 great-grandchildren Parker, Westin, Ryder, Brynley, Gavin, Peyton, Dakota, Charlotte (Charlie), Bella, Tucker, Liv, Evelyn, Charlotte, Samuel, Camden, Brantley, Levi, and, the newest addition, Luca. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert Skaaden, sisters Helen Marie Elliott and Peggy Jo Pike, and brother John Jay King, Jr. Due to the current global pandemic, Alice will be laid to rest in a small graveside service at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Vancouver, Washington. However, we know that the limited attendance setting in no way reflects the number of people who she touched over the years and those who loved her dearly. Her family appreciates all of you and what you meant to her. And, even though we mourn her death, we are also rejoicing that she's with her Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, free of the restraints that dementia placed on her mind. Her favorite scripture verse (one of many) was Psalm 27:1 -The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? We love you Mom!
